Once You’ve Got Your Glasses

So you’ve chosen your glasses after much thought and are confident that you’ve made the right choice. So what happens next. Well either your optician will phone you up to tell you that you can go into the store again to collect them, or if you ordered online you’ll receive your glasses through the post.

Are they Right?

Once you have them you should now try them on to ensure that they fit well, and of course that they correct your vision in the appropriate manner. So what happens f they don’t fit or don’t correct your vision?

Checking Fitting

If they do not fit you properly there is little point in keeping the glasses as they will make you uncomfortable and may lead to you straining your eyes.

Bought from High Street or Independent Optician - You should have tried them on in store so they are unlikely to refund them. They may be able to adjust them for you though to help (they may or may not charge to do that).

Bought Online - Some companies will refund and some won’t. Hopefully you ordered through one who will such as Glasses Solutions or used the try at home service that some companies offer. Again, you could take them to a local optician for minor adjustments.

Checking Vision

Regardless of where you bought them from you are entitled to a replacement set or refund in the case that the lenses have not been made to your prescription.

If the prescription was wrong, then you should follow that up with the optician who did your eye tests so you can get the right prescription.

A few companies such as Glasses Solutions and it’s partners offer a 100% no quibble guarantee so will refund your glasses even if it was

through your own mis-entry or a wrong prescription.

Glasses Aftercare

Now you’ve got your glasses you’ll want to make sure you keep them in tip top condition. There are several aspects to this.

Cleaning

When you wipe the smudges and fingerprints off of your lenses don’t use a tissue as you might creates minute little scratches on the surface. Ensure to use a specialist glasses microfibre cleaning cloth which are made of super sot fibres that are gentle on the surface of your lenses. If your cloth gets dirty just wash it with warm water and mild detergent, rinse it thoroughly and let it dry before using it again. Make sure that you keep the cloth in your case as if it picks up other bits of dirt etc those bits could scratch your lenses.

If a microfibre cloth isn’t cleaning the lenses because they are too dirty, use some cool soapy water to wash your glasses.

Adjusting

You should regularly check (we recommend every month for the first three months, then once every three months after that) that your glasses still sit correctly using the advice earlier in this guide. If they don’t you should adjust them yourself, or get a optician to do it for you. This will ensure that you don’t strain your eyes or feel uncomfortable wearing them.

Accessories

There are various accessories available for your glasses to change the appearance, keep them safe, or keep them in good condition. You can get cleaning sets, maintenance kits with special screwdrivers that are the correct size, cases of all different materials shapes and colours and many more.
